History & Expertise

History of IfTG-Reinraum

The origins of today’s IfTG Cleanroom GmbH & Co. KG lie in the IfTG GmbH, whose original role within an industry association was the planning, execution and supervision of research activities in the field of technical building services. The main areas of expertise included heating, ventilation, air conditioning, sanitary and electrical engineering.

Due to limited financial resources and a lack of project assignments, these activities could no longer be maintained over an extended period. As a result, the company lost its operational relevance and was eventually offered for sale.

With the acquisition of IfTG GmbH, the foundation was deliberately laid to revive this consulting-oriented and technically focused activity outside an association framework. The transformation into a GmbH & Co. KG and the explicit addition of the term “Cleanroom” reflect decades of specialization in cleanroom technology and at the same time create a platform for the possible future inclusion of additional qualified partners.

Personal Background & Professional Expertise

Josef Oswald

The sole managing partner of IfTG Cleanroom GmbH & Co. KG is Josef Oswald, Ing. Dr. h. c.

After completing his studies in Building Services Engineering at HTL Pinkafeld (Austria) in 1972, he began his professional career in the same year at Daldrop + Dr. Ing. Huber GmbH & Co. KG in Neckartailfingen, Germany – a company to which he remained affiliated until his retirement.

From 1 January 1986 until 31 December 2022, Mr. Oswald served as Managing Director of the company, including almost 30 years as CEO. During this period, he played a decisive role in shaping the strategic, technical and organizational development of the company, establishing it as a recognized player in HVAC and cleanroom technology.

One significant milestone was the introduction of the performance concept “Shelmeq”, which defined the company’s holistic service philosophy and became a recognized quality benchmark within the industry.

In addition, Mr. Oswald is the inventor of the cleanroom air handling unit CROFCU. This development represents an independent planning philosophy in cleanroom technology and was successfully patented in both the European Union and the United States of America.

More than five decades of professional experience now form the technical foundation of IfTG Cleanroom. The establishment of the company enables this knowledge to be applied in a targeted manner through consulting, coaching and basic design services and to be passed on to future generations.
